Narrative

The ALL DIGITAL Weeks awareness-raising campaign ended on 31 May, marking another successful year of promoting digital education and inclusion across Europe. This year, we proudly reached more than 50.000 people across Europe.

With the invaluable support of our national coordinators, the campaign was effectively sustained and promoted throughout Europe. These coordinators, who are current members of ALL DIGITAL, played a crucial role in connecting with local organizations dedicated to enhancing digital skills in their respective countries. They ensured the campaign’s visibility, managed local partnerships, and monitored performance at the national level.

Embracing the campaign’s motto, “Enhance Your Digital Skills,” our national coordinators organized and promoted a variety of events, conferences, courses, and training sessions that equipped diverse population groups with essential digital skills and education. These initiatives aimed to boost digital knowledge and skills in the eight core areas covered by our themes.

The national coordinators organised and promoted events, conferences, courses and training aimed at increasing digital knowledge and skills of their participants in the areas covered by the 8 core themes:

    • Digital Skills for employment, entrepreneurship and innovation (reskilling and up-skilling for all from basic to advanced skills)
    • Digital Skills in “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion’’ – from basic to advanced (migration, democratisation, gender gap, ethnicity
    • DigComp, DigCompEdu and Digital Skills Certifications
(MyDigiSkills, European Digital Skills Certificate, DigComp Hub)
    • Digital media literacy and disinformation
    • Cybersecurity and safer internet
    • Digital Skills for Environment and Sustainability
(reference to Twin Transition, GreenComp, SDGs)
    • Digital Skills for specific sectors
(education, cultural and creative industries, transportation, health…).
    • The application of AI (Artificial Intelligence) in education and training
We invite you to hear the inspiring stories from our national coordinators and discover the significant impact the campaign had across Europe. Digital inclusion remains one of the biggest challenges of the digital transformation. The increasing digitalisation of essential services, the labour market and social and democratic participation. It is those parts of society which already face exclusion or are otherwise disadvantaged who risk being further disconnected and left behind the most.

There is a lot of attention on this year’s European elections, and on the EU’s regulatory power continuing to make great strides in the digital sector with the AI Act, the Digital Services Act, and the Digital Market Act. However, digital inclusion measures are ultimately implemented on the local and regional level, and in many parts of Europe local elections are taking place simultaneously with the European elections.

For these reasons, Mediawijs,, and ALL DIGITAL, the pan-European network of digital education stakeholders, are organising a conference highlighting local and regional approaches to digital inclusion, featuring perspectives from academic research and good practices from around Europe.

Agenda

  • 8h45: Welcome and registration
  • 9h30: Plenary opening by
    • Altheo Valentini, President, ALL DIGITAL
    • Alenka Le Compte, Digital Inclusion Expert, Mediawijs
    • Gerardo Franco, Europe Philanthropies Lead, Microsoft
  • 10h00: Presentation by the universities VUB and UGent: “Localising digital inclusion policy: A comparative analysis of local policy responses to digital exclusion in Belgium, France, and Norway”
    • Dr. Sarah Anrijs, MICT-UGent
    • Paola Verhaert, SMIT-VUB
  • 10h45: How does Mediawijs support local governments on digital inclusion in Flanders?
    • Alenka Le Compte, Digital Inclusion Expert, Mediawijs
  • 11h00: Coffee break
  • 11h30: Panel discussion with good practices from Belgium and Europe

Dear Stakeholders,

We are thrilled to invite you for the upcoming Final Conference of the Innovative Digital Education for Active Healthy Living (IDEAHL) Horizon Europe project, on the 6th of March 2024, at the European Parliament, in Brussels.

The conference will serve as a culmination of our collaborative efforts, providing a platform to share the remarkable achievements, showcase project outcomes, and engage in discussions surrounding the sustainability of the results.

You can see the full agenda here.

Register here!

Your presence at this event holds immense value as we collectively celebrate the transformative journey of IDEAHL and delve into the profound impact it has had on digital education for healthier and more active lifestyles.

Throughout the course of the project’s life, the group developed two crucial results:

And the European digital Health Literacy Strategy – guidelines to improve dHL for the benefit of all citizens focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, treatment and (self-)care as well as on monitoring its impact on the quality of life, well-being, productivity, and the economy, taking into account geographic, social and economic determinants of inequities in digital health literacy.

The Global Atlas of Literacies for Health – a resource that not only summarises the various literacy instruments but presents the empirical evidence for how the tools have been used or evaluated and best practice in (digital) health literacy across Europe and beyond.

About ALL DIGITAL

All Digital (previously known as Telecentre Europe) is a leading pan-European association based in Brussels, representing member organisations across Europe that work with 25,000 digital competence centres. We focus to support Europeans that have an insufficient level of digital skills. That means that they’re having less chances to find work, to use online services, to have a better quality of life, to be included in today’s society.

About the EQUALS-EU project

EQUALS-EU Regional Partnership for Gender Equality in the Digital Age is an international project implemented by 19 project partners from Europe and beyond under the leadership of Oslo Metropolitan University. It started in January 2021 and will conclude in December 2023. The project is funded by the EU Horizon 2020 Framework Programme.

It aims to build capacity in gender-inclusive innovation in Europe and partner countries worldwide with an ambitious and value-driven agenda. EQUALS-EU is centred around four key activities that leverage expertise from global leaders in gender-inclusive innovation and new ideas and commitment of future female leaders.

  1. Map gender-inclusive innovation ecosystems in 20 countries
  2. Host innovation camps and hackathons in 24 countries
  3. Run a six-month incubator program focused on gender-inclusive entrepreneurship
  4. Hold a one-month boot camp for future leaders in gender-inclusive innovationPress contacts
